I picked up 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil out of curiosity, never before using anything similar. Don’t know why but I always thought of skin oils as rather expensive, fancy products offered by such brands as Shu Uemura, Shiseido and Astalift. Seeing it at Boots for a reasonable price I couldn’t say no. Honestly I didn’t expect anything and how wrong I was! But let’s start at the beginning
L’Oreal 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil comes nicely packaged in a 150ml yellow bottle with a pump and retails for £7.99 in Boots (currently 1/3 off at Boots). It’s aimed mainly at removing makeup as it dissolves all traces of makeup and impurities. You use it without water at first, applying 2-3 drops onto dry skin, massaging with fingertips over the whole face, lashes (yes!) lids and lips. I have combination skin and it feels counterintuitive to put oil on your already oily enough t-zone, I know! But what surprised me is that L’Oreal oil is not greasy at all, it’s actually very pleasant to use. Smells lovely and gets rid of makeup fast. After massaging it you rinse it with water. Upon contact with water the oil turns white and changes its consistency to very watery.
So is it effective as a cleanser? Oh yes! I’ve used it for a week now, removing a ‘full makeup face’ (foundation, concealer, blush, powder, setting spray, eye shadow, you name it…) and it works like a charm. Being suspicious, I’ve used a clean cotton pad after cleansing to see if my skin is thoroughly cleansed, and found no traces of makeup left. So far so good. This product does all it claims to do: it isn’t harsh, it doesn’t dry out the skin or leave it feeling dehydrated and tight. It leaves the skin soft, moisturized and radiant. It does remove mascara but I don’t particularly like how it feels on my eyes so will stick here to my trusty Bourjois eye makeup remover. I have blemish prone skin that reacts to everything it dislikes with breakouts but so far this gave me none, which is always good news. Having two other face cleansers (my favourites) on my bathroom shelve, I keep surprising myself by reaching for L’Oreal 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil almost every single evening. I think I trust it enough now to take it with me for my holiday. That must mean something
Have you tried it yet? What do you think about it? Let me know
